Installation

Prerequisites

You must have .NET 3.5 or 4.0 Beta 2 to run the client and .NET 4.0 Beta 2
.NET 4.0 Beta 2 can be downloaded from here

Installation

To install, simply unzip the release file

Using Server

Standard Use

Run the MPQServer.exe application. Enter ports for the web and game servers. The defaults will work fine.
The application can then be left to run, or minimized to the taskbar. Status balloons can be turned off by right clicking the icon and unchecking "Show Status Balloons"

Command Line Switches

/a AutoStart. Causes server to start without displaying config screen (unless used with /-s) and auto minimizes
/-s Forces display of config screen
/s Prevents display of config screen
/m %PORT% GameServer Port
/w %PORT% WebServer Port
/u %URI% URI of Server
/n %NAME% Server Name
/SINGLE Forces Single Game
/-SINGLE Prevents Single Game
/f %FILE% Defines UsersAndTeams file


Using Client

MPQClient35

This version should be used on machines not running .NET 4.0

On running the client, enter the name and port of the server in the first box and the servername in the second box.

If you have connected to this server before, enter your username and password.
If not, enter a username and password and click "Create New User"

To create a new game for other users to connect to, click "Create" next to the games list.
Otherwise, click on a game to join, and then "Join".

To host the game, click "Host Game" then select a quiz from the dialog box, or click upload to upload a local quiz file to the server. Click "Host Game" again to confirm selection.
Otherwise, click "Join Game".

MPQClient

This version should be used on machines running .NET 4.0

On running the client, select a server to connect to, then click OK.

If you have connected to this server before, enter your username and password.
If not, enter a username and password and click "Create New User"

To create a new game for other users to connect to, click "Create" next to the games list.
Otherwise, click on a game to join, and then "Join".

To host the game, click "Host Game" then select a quiz from the dialog box, or click upload to upload a local quiz file to the server. Click "Host Game" again to confirm selection.
Otherwise, click "Join Game".

/s %SERVER% Server Machine Name - Automatically Selects this Server
/sn %SERVER% Server Name - Automatically Selects this Server (3.5 only)
/u %USER% Username - Auto login with this Username (Creates it if the user doesn't exist)
/p %PASS% Password - Defines password for auto login
/DEBUG %GAME% Enables debug mode (autoplay) %GAME% defines the game to create/connect to


Creating and Deploying a Quiz File

Download and run the latest version of the Quiz Builder Cannot resolve file macro, invalid file name or id..
Extract and run the Quiz Builder.exe application.

Save the file to a convenient location.

To deploy on server:

Simply place the file in the "Quiz Files" directory

To deploy from client:

Create a new game as described above, then click upload when hosting the quiz. Browse to the quiz file and click OK.
